folding & creasing
The process by which a printed sheet is folded. There are a wide variety of folding options.
platening
Device that is used to cut a bespoke shape into a printed item using a steel rule die in a punch press.
hand assembly & collating
Create by putting components together & gathering or arranging printed sheets into the desired sequence, usually before binding.
binding
Processes using glue, wire staples, thread or mechanical clasps to hold pages together.
perfing
Short for perforation or perforating; punching tiny holes in a sheet of paper or card to ease in tearing along a specific line.
laminating
Bonding clear plastic film by heat and pressure to a sheet of paper or card to protect the print and improve its appearance.
drilling
Piercing of stacks of paper or card in a precision manner with round hollow drills.
eyeletting
A process to insert a metal ring designed to reinforce a hole in paper or card.
stringing
To insert and secure string on hanging cards, catalogues, tags and other items.
foiling
The use of heated metallic foils, pressed onto paper or card for visual impact.
packing & delivery
Wrapping material around printed items that serves to contain, identify, describe, protect and otherwise keep clean. The packaged items are then dispatched in one of a number of ways for receipt and use.
